Robert Black – Senior Project Manager

Robert-BlackRobert Black is a seasoned and proven leader in the construction industry who genuinely enjoys the role of managing and mentoring individuals and creating a successful team inspired towards a common goal of success on all projects.  Mr. Black is an expert in developing and forming a team of consultants and subcontractors to achieve success.  He has over 30 years experience in project planning, estimating, budgeting and construction.  His career includes experience and oversight in the construction of retail mixed use, industrial buildings, office complexes, high rises, golf course communities, multifamily and single family residences, theatres and marinas.

Mr. Black grew up in Grosse Ile, Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management at Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan.  He pursued graduate studies at Central Michigan University where he earned his MBA.

Mr. Black began his construction management career as a Project Manager with US Home Corporation in Houston, TX.  In that role, he quickly progressed from Project Manager to Vice President of Purchasing.  He completed the company’s Management Development Program and became the Division President of a new office they opened in West Palm Beach, FL.  While at US Home Corporation, he was involved with the construction of over 2,000 residential homes and other amenities.  He also obtained his General Contractor’s license and real estate license in Florida.

Mr. Black was then hired by Cadillac Fairview Florida, Inc. in Miami, FL as their Vice President of Construction where part of his responsibility was the oversight of their troubled projects where he was responsible for bringing them back on schedule and within budget.  While there he oversaw the completion of over 1,000 homes and other amenities.

Mr. Black continued his career with Cenvill Development Corporation in Pembroke Pines, FL where he was the Vice President of Construction and Development.  While with Cenvill he oversaw the development and construction of over 6,000 condominiums on two separate projects with amenities that included two golf courses, club houses, pool facilities and sales centers.

Further career advancement opportunities became available to Mr. Black when he went to work for Homestead Properties in Homestead, FL where he was the Vice President of Construction and Development.  While there he was involved with the planning, design, estimating, development and construction of a 3,300-acre project which included over 1,000 single family and multi-family homes, golf course and two clubhouses.  Mr. Black also directed $30 million dollars of insurance reconstruction claims from the aftermath of hurricane Andrew.

Mr. Black then went to work for Avatar Development Corporation in Coral Gables, FL where he was the Director of Construction and Development.  While with Avatar, Mr. Black managed all phases of a 200 acre, 2,400 unit upscale waterfront community.  He was responsible for preparing estimates, budgets, oversight of negotiations and supervision of all subcontractors.  He recruited, trained and supervised all construction and land development personnel.  Mr. Black also constructed custom homes for Joe Dimaggio and his attorney and received high praise for his efforts.

Most recently, Mr. Black formed Muro Management, Inc. where he served as a Construction Consultant. He has managed the renovation of a historic Frank Lloyd Wright performing arts theater, manufacturing plant fire restoration, several residential construction projects, industrial parks, high-rise building renovations, apartment buildings, and mixed use commercial projects.  He also obtained a General Contractor license in Arkansas in order to manage the fire restoration project.

Among his many interests, Mr. Black enjoys boating, ocean cruises, sports and family events.  He resides in Acworth, GA with his wife and has 2 married sons.
